Hi all

Autotek electronics, are they any good.
anybody used them befor, successfully!?
or they are waist of money + time

hi peter

they charged me £80 to test a gear box ecu for golf Mk4 , they said all good.
but the ecu was no good, and tuff luck , this job curries no warranty.
not surprised !

Yes sir we can test it and repair or replace.
(clue 1 = 6 said no and 1 said yes)
Yes sir,it is duff we will give you a new one for
£400-£500 ok,new one in the post,its duff as its
my old one with a botch repair.
Send it back and i will put it back under warranty.Months later a new one in the post,it was a s/h one found through a part finding service.It was no good as it needed the imob box off the other car to match up the keys.
If you ever put a enquiry off for any electronic part,i will gaurantee the first call will be from the big puddle

clue 2 = 6 said yes and one said no .
one was picked up ,job one.
i've learned , i'll never use AUTOTEK ELECTRONICS again .

Dont go there £400 and unit returned 3 times before it would even start and had to buy a new ecu in the end(no refund)

I was bitten by these idiots as far back as 2005 how do they remain in business??

For ECU repairs try All Car Electrics, ATP or ACTronics.

They sent me faulty ABS unit, sent it back for refund, cant get through to anyone, never got refund £300 out of pocket...

Very dodgy company i brought a abs unit and they took payment twice from card. After threatening them with legal action they eventually paid it back. Stay well away !.

This crew are the worst I have ever found. BMW recovered to me with valvetronic fault fitted with a repaired and tested ecu. The “needs an ecu mate” incorrect diagnosis courtesy of a BMW dealer but thats another story. Following what they later described to the client as a strained conversation with their technical dept they agreed to send another tested used ecu. The used ecu wouldn’t even communicate, stone dead. I broke the seal on this one and the soldering where they had swapped the prom and mcu was so bad it had burned the board beyond repair. To cap it all off, the client informed me they admitted to him in a recorded phone conversation that it was a scam but still refused to refund his £350. It appears they can trade with impunity and they have a nice website so I am sure the scam will continue.

Not wanting to hijack this thread, but is anybody else having issues with BBA.
I think the last 5 things repaired by them, 4 have been faulty.
Anybody using Actronics? Any good?

I diagnosed a faulty engine module on a C3

Nobody I phoned could touch/repair this particular ecu. My customer phoned me and said he had found one from 'AUTOTEK' and it was plug and play.

I doubted this and sure enough the unit turned up and obviously didn't start the car and there was a strange clicking noise coming from somewhere that wasn't present with my old ecu?

I eventually got in touch with someone and the conversation went something like this.

Me, This ecu won't start the car because it is programmed to another BSI.

Yes I know

You told my customer that it was plug and play

Did we

ok, just to confirm this ecu is nothing more than a door stop then.

yes I know...You could swap the prom

If I open the casing will the warranty be void

Yes

Ok this feels like a setup, can I just return the unit

Yes

My customer still hasn't managed to return the unit as yet!

Same as everyone else, first dealings about 8 years back, total cock up but they did refund witout question back then. Since then I have had customers who have had stuff go back 3 or 4 times untill it gets lost in the post!
Did actually have one sucess last year, when a garage I work for sent of a Lexus R300 ABS module that every one had turned down before I got to them. And to my supprise 2 weeks later it was returned and it worked!
So not all bad..... Just 99% bad!
