Ford Focus 1.8 TDCi 2003 - Charging problem - Fixed #

Year of Manufacture *: 2003
( Optional ) Engine Code or CC: 1.8 Turbo Diesel

Carried out the usual test's and alternator was faulty. Came back a few days later customer saying the alternator light come's on between 30 seconds to a min of running whichis exactly what happens.
Alternator output is just over 13 volts with or without plug connected.
Going to check the harness tomorrow but dont understand why light go's out when engine is started then comes on

Hi Tommy,

Check pin 3 on small plug it should have batt voltage,if not trace it further back in the loom and recheck, the wire tends to go open circuit due to corrosion .
I found that if you expose the loom about a foot back and pull on the wires one by one you will find a broken one.

Thanks for the help rechecked all the wiring, no problems. New alternator had failed. relaced unit all ok.
