Ford Focus 1.6 2005 - Audible warning gong intermittent sounding #

Hi all,
The audible warning gong in the cabin sounds intermittently, either when driving or parked with the ign off. It's been doing this for some months. It's not accompanied by a warning lamp, high temp. gauge reading or similar. The owner's handbook only indicates that an audible warning may sound for lights left on, or low ambient temperature. A search with DEC Superscan 3 doesn't reveal any fault codes in dashboard, airbag, door modules ABS etc. The DEC can't perform an actuator test of the gong. Maybe IDS is required. I can't see an audible gong on any likely circuit diagram in Autodata. Anyone else had this happen or any ideas?
