Ford Streetka 2003 - Heated rear window wiring - Fixed #
Posted by Mark Lamont on December 13, 2010, 6:53 pm I have been asked by a customer to wire up a heated rear window to his Streetka, he has bought and fitted a used hard top. There is a switch in the roof and also a relay mounted in the hard top near the rear window. There is a 4 pin plug coming out of the top, unfortunately all wires are white but numbered 1,2,3 and 4. He has bought a new loom from the dealer which plugs into this connector and is the right length to plug into a 4 pin connector I have found above the fusebox above the pedals. This has an earth and a 12v feed that comes from a fuse which is listed as heated rear window and the wiring colours are similar. If I connect this the sidelamps come on permanently and the switch does not operate the relay, I think it is back-feeding the circuit for switch illumination. Neither of the wires attached to the rear screen connect to the wiring out of the roof, it would appear both go through a relay but can't think this would be the case. I have tried every way of re-wiring this and without removing the roof and stripping the wires out I have run out of ideas. Anybody seen this before?
