Citroen Xsara Picasso 2.0 Diesel 2002 - Non start - Fixed #

Posted by Mark Collins on October 18, 2010, 8:45 pm

Year of Manufacture *: 2002

Hi all, I went to this car a few days ago as a non-start for a local garage. I found out it had been in a side impact o/s which has been repaired, the owner said he bought it with the damage, he repaired it, but never had it running. I carried out a full test with Lexia, there where a few faults in the BSI unit which all cleared ok, test on injection ECU, but was unable to carry out any function tests/checks. I looked at the supplies screen and found the injection ECU had no voltage present. I have checked all fuses which seem ok, the immobiliser is OK when the ignition key is on. The fuel pump runs for a few seconds. I checked the injector, switching with a LED noid, and found they were inoperative. I hate to say it, but the garage did spray easy start into the intake and it ran whilst spraying. Aaaaaagh. Does anybody have any ideas where to go next? Regards, Mark

Mark.
Engine code? bosch or siemens system ? What were the codes in the BSI.
If the injector ecu had no voltage why would the pump run for a few secounds ?

Mark you need to go back to basics

Check to see if you have cam/crank synch and what fuel pressure do you have , both these are in live data/parameters

Had similar problem last year with 2.0 hdi, turned out to be an injector leaking back giving very low fuel pressure, hence non start

Mark.
If you can see live data, take notice of what Steve says.
And make sure you use the correct build number.

Just reading initial post, is it safe to test injector signal with a noid tester on this car?
Can this damage the ECU?
Hoping to be wrong, Phil.

Checked the crank shaft sensor that the garage fitted and found it was damaged on the end, replaced it and burst into life.

Many thanks for all your help

There could be an underlying problem here if they did fit a new sensor and didn't damage it. ( I would think it would be difficult for anyone to damage one of these ).

Watch out for the DMF's smashing the end off these crank sensors, I have seen a few of these with smashed sensors and fitting a new one could be a very short lived fix.
