    Thanks for all the replies. New unit came from Rover dealer but didn't have bar code. Whether it should have I dont't know, the dealers opinion differs from that above. So with the garage's customer screaming for his money back and nothing to lose, stripped old unit, cleaned off every scrap of water damage, cracked open all mini relays on board and cleaned with switch cleaner, resoldered every connection on board, rebuild and refit - everything working except hazards (although indicators flashed when arming alarm??) Hazrd switch switches an earth to the alarm unit so used this earth to switch a live via a relay through a new flasher relay and 2 diodes to the outputs of both indicator relays located in front of fuse box. New alarm box sent back to Rover dealer for refund. I don't think I've seen the last of this one!
