Mercedes Vito 110CDi (?) 2000 - Dash not working Archived Message

    Hi All,
Only light with ignition on is Check Battery LED (though I'm sure at least a couple of the bulbs are out). More importantly some (or all) of the gauges don't work i.e. temperature 'ticks', going from 0 to about 25% of full scale rhythmically (as well as making a noise), and the fuel gauge does the same but more of a twitch. Have checked the circuit board...lots of surface mount chips. Have found NBV and 5V on electrolytic caps., and 10V and 5V down stream of regulators. So the electronic side seems to have power, correctly, and I can find various NBVs on leads to panel. Whilst this doesn't rule out loss of a ground, as my measurements were taken to body, at least some grounds were OK. AAARGH...Just realised should have checked digital display, but I THINK backlight bulbs were open circuit so couldn't see it (this may have told me if some of the processor(s) were running!). Has anyone seen this before? I suspect the instrumentation panel, but want to be right. Initially had a CAN error in EM ECU for a while but seemed to clear eventually??
    Regards,
    Nick Bell
