Hi Jim, I had a good look at it yesterday and finally figured it out. The circuit does not appear to have been wired correctly from new. A 12V supply was missing to trhe rain sensor. What I thought was a logic +5V supply wasn't. Reshuffled the wiring and bingo it worked. However, I really do appreciate your attempts at help, not often you can get information from a 'main dealer'...certainly not in South Wales anyway. Many thanks,
