Hi Tony, thanks for reply. I have checked cam and crank with scope, signals are good. The engine timing is ok. If you attempt to start veh it pops back very aggressively through the throttle body.
Possibly veh could have been jump started badly, the boxes we use in AA have a bleeper for when connected up wrong so patrol shouldnt have got it wrong.
The gargae owner told me he drove vehicle into workshop with alt two pin lead disconnected so that he could fit new alternator, the battery fitted was fully charged.
I need to go back to basics but testing is difficult as the backfire is harsh and I worry about damaging inlet manifold/throttle body. Thanks again. Jim
