Rover 100 R reg 11k engine - How does the immobiliser work on this model Archived Message

Need some help with an explanation of the immob system on these cars. This one is a none starter, or sometimes starts + runs for 1-2 secs then cuts out.Remote operates as normal for alarm/immob but the engine cranks over, fuel pump runs, got a spark but no injection duration. When the duration control reappears the engine starts for a couple of secs and then no inj control again?
I thought the immob shut the ECU down on these (ie no fuel pump or inj control)so I sent the ECU off for repair. No Fault Found! The ECU test company said it will be the immob ECU that needs reprogrammed by the dealer?
I got another set of engine + immob ECUs 2nd hand and programmed the remote but its the same.
Does the ECU just loss the inj control when immobilized?
Can the immob ECU be reprogramed?
Can a 2nd hand immob ECU be reprogramed to the engine ECU?
    Help please
Ps the comm wire between the ECUs is ok.
