    Vacuum Gauge testing. Archived Message

Posted by Jeremy Chamberlain on February 14, 2004, 10:06 am

In the 18 months I have been a member of this site I have invested in a scanner, scope and lots of books and recieved several headaches. I have noticed that lots of people check engine condition and the like with a vacuum gauge which I have recently bought. I am not taking the piss at all but always thought it was an old fashioned tool. I was never shown how to use one at college and have never seen anyone use one in any of the garages I have worked in. The first time I used it on a car it helped diagnose an open circuit ht lead. Not a hard fault to find I know but its a start. My question is, are there any books or websites out there to help me understand and to use the vacuum gauge properly, ie what readings you should have for which faults etc. Regards Jez.
