hi mike you did not say which model it was cdi or edc both models with glow plug light on indicates faulty glowplug on the old model you can pull the lead off of the glowplug timer/relay bolted on the n/s just below battery if you look very close the plug has the cylinder numbers on it check them with a meter or test light to id which is faulty i have never had a problem removing them but i always blow around with air line then give a good squirt with wd40 and leave to soak 10mins

on the cdi model it is a bit more complicated but not much you need to remove inlet manifold etc to gain access to glowplugs just remove caps and test in place when you have located faulty plug these can be tricky to remove if it is an early cdi model i was on a merc course recently and their take on this was wait until all plugs are faulty before attempting to replace not ideal but better than having to fork out for a new head but if you have to change them i would do it with engine hot and again give them a good soak then try and undo working them back and forth

on old model and new the light will go out if faulty plug has been replaced after about 10 key turns
if you have access to scanner the new model tells you which plug it is

    good luck
