Fiat Doblo and derivitives with near side sliding door failure to open # Archived Message

    FYI

If you come across one of these with the passanger side sliding door not opening properly (It opens about an inch and sticks)

There is an interlock betweeen the fuel filler cap and the side door to prevent the door being opened while the fuel filler cap is open (They would clash)

This interlock mechinisim is held together with a flimsy bit of plastic. If this breaks the interlock activates preventing opening of the side door even when the flap is shut.

It can be easily accessed and overidden by removing the fuel filler cap (2 screws on the hinge)

With the door now open the latch in the door piller can be removed to allow reliable operation of the door. Though it might be a good idea to fix it properly eventually to avoid the risk of damage/fuel spills
