Hi Nigel, There are three levels of "Importance" built in to EOBD fault codes. Level one is where the system logs a fault that it has been classified as not effecting the tailpipe emissions, in this case the MIL will not be lit straight away but a code will be logged. Level two is where a fault is logged and the fault as been classified as effecting the tail pipe emissions, this will bring on the MIL. Level three is a system critical setting where the fault is such as that it could cause component damage (ie melted cat), in this case the MIL will come on and Flash. Do not drive the vehicle with this type of EOBD fault code present. HTH Regards Mark.
