BMW 320TD 2002 E46 - New heater panel needs programming - Fixed #Archived Message

We diagnosed a faulty heater control panel on this e46 320d as heater and air con didn't operate, we fitted the new panel this morning, the heater worked for a few seconds,then stopped, after speaking to bmw they tell me the unit needs programing to the vehicle, I have tried ad and Bavarian technical and neither give any option. is this true and has anyone near Leeds/Huddersfield area got autologic or something that can do this? many thanks
