    Citroen C4 1.6 2004 - Power steering failure # Archived Message

I scanned the vehicle "Power steering" module using DEC superscan when the customer complained of it once going stiff, after stopping the car the steering was returned back to normal - all usual tests have been carried out on the car - IE power supplies and charging etc but no clues as to why this happened except this fault code stored in the power steering module -

    C1200 Control Unit (ECU)
    (Not Present)

I did a global scan of the rest of the car and all was OK (Strange for a Citroen I thought!)

There does seem to be some reference to C1200 been injection computer but that I think is the code Citroen use on there wiring diagrams. If you research the fault code for Mercedes is come up as Brake light switch implausibility.

I do work for a local Citroen dealer who say they have never had an issue with C4 steering module yet.

My customer is reluctant to use the car until something is found and like wise i am reluctant to replace components on the strength of a fault code as it is just very back practice - That is why I am seeking advise from other professional technicians to see if this problem has come up before with any of you and what clues did you find if any ??
