Have just replaced the electronic steering rack on an A3 along with modified loom etc. Customer has complained the steering does not centralise on its own after turning. Feels fine to me just uasual stiffness from new steering rack. Had four wheel geometry check after repairs. Just spoken to Audi who first said I had used the wrong steering fluid but after explaining it was electro mechanical not electro hydrualic they now say the rack needs "coding". Has anyone else carried out the same repair that can advise me if what the dealer is saying is correct. I don't want to pay them for soemthing that doesn't need doing. There are no lights on or fault codes present. Many thanks.
