    ISTR that these 1.4 Zetecs (I am assuming that this is what it is) seem a bit prone to developing peculiar oil burning problems.

    Some people report having some sucess using some forte "Mechanic in a can"

    I stripped one once to find that the rings had very little tension (IYSWIM) and a peculiarly dished cylinder head between cy;ls 2-3.

    Which of the two (or both) was causing the problem I do not know but it was fine afterwards.

    I was able to do mine "In situ" and it was relativly easy to do though I believe some later fords have a diferent alloy sump design that requires gearbox removal to access some of the sump bolts

    (The con rods had an "Interesting" design whereby they were machined as one piece and then the big ends were "Broken" to allow instalation)
