Landrover Freelander 1.8 1999 - Non start # Archived Message

    Hi

I wonder if anyone can help. A 1999 petrol freelander was towed into today with a no start situation. vehicle has come from another garage who were fitting a new head gasket. prior to their work, the owner did not need to use the remote to start the vehicle as the remote plip did not work !!!. Obviously when re-connecting the battery, the alarm has come on armed. on opening the drivers door a short alarm sound is heard. no central locking or interior lights (interior light is also hanging out from interior roof !!!) Red dashboard led is flashing in armed state
we checked for fault codes in the body controller and in the Mems engine ecu, the last four alarm triggers were recorded (cleared) and no faults logged in engine ECU. Tried to re-learn plip (can someone confirm this operation will not work whilst the alarm is in an armed state).
we tried the EKA code as recorded by scan tool. this carried out after looking to check that EKA is in entry mode and EKA entry is showing 1st digit (it never moves off 1st digit) plus the locking state never changes from doors locked.
the ECU coding index is 1 and the strange thing is we found the country code set at 1 (in transit) we changed the code to 2 (UK) but now when we turn on the ignition we get the body controller buzzer as if to say its in transit mode - tried turning the country code back to 1 with no joy
do you think we are looking at a drivers door wiring fault. we can operate all body controller functions through the scanner with no problems.
    any help would be appreciated
    regards
