Audi A2 1.4 BBY 2003 - Occasional failure to crank # Archived Message

    Hi All,
This vehicle suffers from an occasional failure to crank (not experienced it yet myself).
Owner listened to "fourth emergency service colleague" and instructed local mechanic friend of mine to fit a new starter motor, this has not cured the problem. By the owner's mighty powers of logical reasoning he is now requesting my friend to fit another new starter motor as this new one is obviously no better than the old one! Customers, don't you love 'em!
I will obviously test the ignition switch but I do not know if this vehicle has a starter relay (manual gearbox btw)if so where would it be located?
I have accessed the area above the fusebox driver's side but there are only two relays there neither of which relate to the starter motor. In general I have not found enough relays for this vehicle in my opinion, is there a secret stash somewhere? As I hate having to remove loads of trim unecessarily.
    Regards, Shaun.
