Mercedes Benz SL320 1995 Convertible - Drivers window inop # Archived Message

Driver's electric window not operating. This is of the design where the window drops a little when the door is opened and lifts when the door is closed again.
The motor is confirmed to operate and the mechanism has been lubricated.
The ECU (under false floor in cubby box behind driver's seat) has been checked for dry joints and burnt tracks.
All power supplies are good and the motor will drop the window about half an inch when commanded after a power down reset. The passenger window (same ECU) works correctly.
My thoughts are that the motor sensors or their wiring is faulty and the ECU trips out if it cannot see movement of the window via the sensors in a very short space of time. Happy to purchase a new motor if I can confirm it is faulty.
Any one with experience of this system got any ideas/pointers/silver bullets?
I could use some technical information on what signals to expect on the sensor wires if anyone has anything available.
    Regards, Shaun
Sorry, forgot to post this bit, it's a 129 model.
