    Hi Alan,

Chipping for economy is in vogue with people like us simply because of the increase in price of fuel. Basically, it is taking advantage of market conditions. Any re-mapped vehicle should provide better fuel economy as a BY-PRODUCT. The engine is working less hard which in turn provides better economy. So when I market re-mapping I can place emphasis on better torque (for caravanners) in Spring, better economy - when fuel price spirals or better performance in the summer when the boy racers like to get about.

I advertise an average of between 7 - 15% improvement in fuel economy. It depends on how you use your right foot. My son has an A4 130BHP remapped to approx 165BHP and now returns 64MPG from 53MPG. He is not a boy racer.

Also all re-maps can be tailored to what the customer requires ie economy, better torque lower down etc. However, this tailoring should not bring the re-mapping to extemes of too rich or too lean.

Beware of dodgy down-loads from the internet or E Bay. Tony has obviously got a good supplier, and the price is very cheap. I pay loads more for mine.

Can the manufacturers mapping be far from ideal? Yes it can and I won't go in full detail here. I have touched on it in my web-site.

    Regards
