Is the engine on or off when this happens.
It may have some sort of power manegment and might be switching off unnecesary consumers.

The power for lights is supplied by J519

Here is some info I have found.

    Onboard supply control unit -J519-
Notet The onboard supply control unit -J519- and the relay carrier attached to the onboard supply control unit, on left of dash panel MIGHT BE ON RIGHT HAND SIDE FOR UK VEHICLES are one unit and cannot be separated.
    t Additional information
    → No.318
    → No.319
→ Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations
    → Owner's Manual
    General description
The onboard supply control unit -J519- is responsible for the following in the vehicle:
    t Electrical load management
    t Exterior light control
    t Turn signal control
    t Rear window wiper
    t Heated rear window
    t Interior light control
    t Surround lighting
    t Terminal control
    t Dimmers, instrument lighting
    t Fuel pump pressurisation
    t Alternator preexcitation
    t Horn
The following functions can be adapted:
t Erasing learnt values and resetting to standard adaption values
t Setting "coming home" time (depending on equipment level)
t Setting "leaving home" time (depending on equipment level)
t Setting time for rear window heating to switch “ON”
t Switching footwell lighting ON and OFF
t Switching lane change signalling ON and OFF
    t Setting load management
t Setting “active time” for headlight washer system → Chapter
Notet It depends on the fitted vehicle equipment whether or not the above-mentioned modifications can be carried out.
t “Lane change signalling”, “convenience signalling”, or “tap signalling” means, one touch of the turn signal lever will activate the turn signals (1-5 times) (turn signal cycles).
t If the onboard supply control unit -J519- is to be replaced, the procedure → Chapter „ Coding onboard supply control unit -J519-“ must always be performed to read out the codes stored in the unit.
    Fault detection and fault display
The onboard supply control unit -J519- is equipped with self-diagnosis, which is designed to simplify fault finding.
For fault finding, use vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system -VAS 5051A- in “Guided fault finding” mode.

    Hope its of uSE

    Best wishes
