Hyundai Accent 1.3 1998 - Intermittant loss of power - Fixed # Archived Message

    Hi all.

Just done a clutch on this one but the fault was there before according to the RAC patrol who brought it in.

The vehicle runs/drives with no lack of power until you pull up at a junction. The engine idles and revs ok but as you pull away the power just goes. the engine doesn't cut out and if you keep your foot down it comes back to life and off you go. The power also occasionally drops away and then comes back as you drive at a steady speed.

I cant get it to cut out in the workshop despite yanking and pulling at all the wiring looms in the engine bay. The emmisions are ok at idle and fast idle although the cat could be better.

I've tried to acccess EOBD with my Solus-Pro but I can't get comms. However, when the Solus tries to connect the engine cuts out every time!

When the car came in it had vitually no fuel in it so I've put a gallon in and also replaced the fuel filter as the fault feels just like fuel starvation. I suspect the fuel pump but when it's running normally there's no lack of power.

Any one seen this before on one of these? Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated.

    Cheers - Paul.
