Rover 75D 2001 Auto - Auxiliary belt slap - Fixed # Archived Message

This came in with horrendous noise from belt end found crank pulley had broken up in rubber damper replaced pulley (BGA unit) fitted new belt. Starts up ok but after running a few minutes excess belt slap is noticed and some noise returns, fitted new tensioner all other drives and aux pulley rotate freely.
Noise and slap can be elliminated by turning on lights or turning pas to full lock. The slack is in the bottom run of the belt between the crank and alternator as if crank is turning too slowly to allow tensioner to keep belt taught. When standing the belt is tight enough to play a tune on it.
My thoughts are turning to drive line vibration ie crank/torque converter but finding it difficult to prove without major work any thoughts would be appreciated.
