Skoda Octavia 1998 - ABS sensor fault, code 00283 # Archived Message

    Hi All,
This one has done the rounds.
    2 Codes
00283 35-10 ABS wheel speed sensor front left -intermittent
00283 16-10 ABS wheel speed sensor front left- signal outside specifications-intermittent
Apparently a new sensor was fitted by an independant which did not fix the fault. The vehicle then went to a Skoda main dealer who fitted another sensor but then removed it at the customer's request after it still did not fix the fault.
The sensor does not look very new to me, so guess what, the first thing it's going to get is a new sensor to eliminate any possibility of a sensor fault.
The reluctor ring looks good and true.
I will obviously check the integrity of the wiring.
What I did notice however is that the bottom wishbone bushes are quite perished/worn and there is a clonk from that side as drive takes up. I am concerned that as the hub clonks back and forward that there are going to be some uncontrolled pulses coming from that ABS sensor.
What are peoples opinions on this? could worn suspension bushes cause ABS faults?
    Shaun
