"Unknown code" is something that too many Scan Tool Manufacturers are getting away with.

They are selling these Diagnostic Tools with lists of what vehicles they cover and they only really do a fraction of what they claim.

They then charge us ridiculous amounts of money to update to the latest software ( In the hope that they have sorted their problems out ) Only to find that this updated software also does not do the job properly.

The only way is to invest in Dealer level tools or take the vehicle to someone that has these tools.

Even when you get a code and a description out of Aftermarket tools, it doesn't always give you the confidence to believe what you are reading.

To Be Honest, I can See the Tool Manufacturers problems, as the Task is Massive and most of them are trying to cover too many manufacturers instead of covering 50% and making the software twice as good. So All we get now is lots of scan tools that cannot do the job properly. And sometimes even after investing say £20k, you find that nothing covers the job that you are doing.

Sorry this doesn't help your situation, but at least it hasn't cost you several thousand pounds as the Useless scan tools may have.

P.S. What Scan Tools are we talking about. ????????

    Tony.
