Not being a "sparky" expert I'll apologise in advance to any lecky I may offend.
Battery charging light on. Alternator found to be producing 15.7 volts at idle even with full electrical load. Excitation is 8.6 volts, clearly both a tad high. An identical Navara I have in at the moment gives 14.46v under full load with excitation at .94volts.
Last time I came across similar symptoms was a Mazda MX5 whoose alternator excitation came from the ecu which had to be replaced at a cost of £1100.
Is the Navara alternator also controlled by the ecu?
