Did one of these a few weeks ago, what a balls up rover have made of it, but thats rovers all over. I was advised not to remove the variators. So i left them bolted to the camshaft carrier, i just removed the bolts holding them to the head part, a slight tap and the camshaft carrier came off with the variators attached, but dont let the thin shaft that links the two halfs together to move away, it wont drop out but it can just about come out far enough to allow the timing to jump. A thin line of sealant round the vaiator gaskets and the whole lot back down again and all was good. Still a doggy rover though

I found the BMW's easier and a far better system, even the new N engines, i have locking kits for all the BMW engines, look complicated at first but after the first one its so easy.
