Hi Peter in answer to your question, -No , there is no service requirement to replacing the manifold at 80000miles or any other mileage, Yes, it is a relatively common failure caused by coking up of the manifold through EGR, crappy oil quality,poor servicing etc which causes the flaps to stick in the channels and then the actuator operates and can break them off. If we start to replace all the parts which can sometimes cause a problem on cars then we would be doing it for evermore. Ed Kaps
