Hi all i have this mini 2002 model cooper in because the power steering went funny , then when i was diagnosing the fault clouds of smoke come up from the motor and burnt it out and the wiring harness which joins it.
So when i replaced the motor and the harness checked there was supply and - to motor via the 2 heavy wires, started up and and no sound from motor and steering still heavy, let it idle for a half hour to make sure i was not going to get clouds of smoke again , i noticed the cooling fan was not working either . There is a fuse which covers the steering pump and cooling fan but all was OK getting powered.I checked all fuses and they seem OK in the fuse box under pass foot well and next to battery tray.I tried getting some codes out of it but my code reader wont comm. thanks for taking the time to read this and hope you can provide some inspiration
