Can anyone help?

Speedo inop. after battery change.

When ignition switched on, speedo needle moves approx 1/4".

Told by another garage it can take anything from 2 hours to 2 days to reset.

Is this correct?

Autodiagnos on EOBD shows no engine fault codes on engine.

Need to reassure customer.

Any help appreciated.
