Jaguar X type 20 d 2005 - Loss of power when towing caravan # Archived Message

77,000 on the clock, Full Jaguar service history. This vehicle runs absolutely fine with no faults until the customer hitches up his caravan. It then develops a fault with the turbo charger when it is put under increased load. The owner will be driving at a constant 60-70mph and on the few occasions that he has wanted to overtake another slow moving vehicle his car suddenly loses turbo power although the car continues to run albeit a lot slower. This fault can be immediately rectified by turning off the ignition and back on again. It has not shown this fault to us but the owner took the vehicle back to the supplier and one of their techs went out on a run for an hour or so along the M62 at varying speeds and came to the conclusion that it was a temperature cut off to the turbo that was causing this problem. Has anyone come across this fault as the supplier has told the customer that it is a `common fault` with this engine.
