Power steering - Rack leakage, general query #Archived Message

This is a general query as to whether anyone has experienced power steering rack leakage due to a faulty pump ie. excessive pressure.
Just had rack rebuilt for a Racing Puma I have had in for some months. Original fault was fluid loss through both track rod boots. Pinion seal was fine.
The rebuilder reported that some components would need rechroming as all the interior plating had failed. I duly paid for this to be done additional to the original quote.
Rebuilt rack has just pumped all the new fluid in to the car's interior through the pinion seal immediately I started the engine to operate the steering to bleed the system.
I had made sure that the non-return valve was clean and refitted into the pinion housing.
