Toyota Auris 1.6 2008 Manual g/box - Service reset, now mileage has changed? #Archived Message

Right, this ones a tricky one.
Basically we have just done a 10K service on a customers Auris. When it cam in the millage said 9681. After we done the service we reset the service light and when we looked the mileage had jumped to 10320.
We have checked to make sure its not a 'service due' mileage but it is counting up, not down.
I have been on to toyota who have told both me and the customer that we must have done the miles (thats 700 miles in a 2 hour period, not bad).
Has anyone else come across this before and do you know what may have caused this?
