    Put back your original metering head unless you know it has suffered from water contamination or been got at by someone who doesn't understand how it works.

    Have a close look at the distributor cap and rotor.

    The caps absord moisture like blotting paper. As the engine warms up, its forced out of the cap and condenses as droplets in the coolest area. Then its game over until the whole lot cools down again.
