Did a search for this problem last week, but nothing on here, anyway, Got a phone call from a distressed female customer last week, about her Mini Cooper,she had just been out in it, and had parked the car up, a work colleague of hers informed her that her the central locking was actuating all the time, all the warning lights on the dash were on continuously, and whining coming from the bonnet area, and a burning smell from there too, I advised her to disconnect the battery immediately, and I recovered the vehicle.
Appparently they are renknowned for Power steering wiring faults, but I couldn't find anything about this particular combination,of faults,I checked the loom down to the pump and it was OK, the connectors in the pump were ok too, It was a major fault in the pump, cured by replacement.
