As Paul said check the brake switch, but don't forget they usually have a clutch switch as well. On a Megane they actually put the switch on the pedal so that the wiring moves every time the clutch is depressed, imagine how long that lasts! If you don't wish to mess with all that then just stall the engine, you can then clear the codes. If it's an auto press start with it in "D".
