Power steering intermittently getting heavy . Fault light for power steering on. Customer cleared fault by pulling fuse for power steering , but now problem is permanent.
Dealer examined vehicle and wants to fix by replacing power steering rack at cost of £2000+
Does anyone have any ideas if this is a known fault on VW units and any tests to carry out and any fixes e.g. replacing power steering pressure switch if one exists?
I will try and obtain code scan on return of vehicle from dealer
