Volvo XC 90 2.5TD 2004 - Non start #Archived Message

Been to this today broken down battery fully charged ignition will only go to first position and there is 3 of them, dash lights up none of the self diagnosis checks are done as that is on second position and as its an auto wont come out of P any suggestions as where to go next any help please
