Does anybody have a firing line scope trace for one of these things? Starts and runs for about 3-5 minutes, the CDI unit gets very hot, the engine starts to misfire and a few seconds later it cuts out. The owner bought a new CDI unit (they call it a CDI but it really just switches the coil to ground with 12V on the top end) with no improvement. Looking at the firing line it appears to be running at almost 100% dwell with a short burst of hash where it is firing the plug (sorry my scope is too old to be able to post a trace) as a result the coil also gets very hot. I searched through my pile of known good test coils and found one with a much higher inductance and more resistance (Rover 214 I think)and on this the engine runs ok with both items getting hot but not so hot it cuts out. Any thoughts from anyone with experience of these would be appreciated. Shaun
