VW Golf 1.9TDi PD 2002 - Wiper working on intermittent when switched off - Fixed #Archived Message

Hi guys,
We currently have a Golf Gti and a Passat estate car with what appears to be the same fault,the rear wiper operates on a intermittent cycle although the switch is in the off position.I am aware that there is an issue with the Mk4 Golf wiper motor (internal water ingress from the washer pipe) but i have also heard that switches fail,anyone with Vag-com seen a fault code relating to a switch/motor fault like this? Anyone seen or repaired this fault before?
