Hi Peter, As many of the others have mentioned, If your customer is worried about an extra £35.00 on his bill then he shouldn't be driving a vehicle of that expence. Steve might correct me on this, but I believe that post 2007/8 models are now possible to be reset using the buttons inside the vehicle? Prior to this it's dedicated equipment only! If you ever do get this one re-set, ask whoever does it if you can observe as they do the job, it's quite an eye opener!! I did one this week and it basically reflashes the whole vehicle, and beleive it or not, at most stages it was showing a current draw of over 40amps!!!! So by the time I allow for hooking the equipment up, the cost of purchasing IDS and keeping IDS upto date, I would have said that £35.00 was more than reasonable. Just pass the cost onto your customer as we do with any codes that we purchase for our customer's vehicles, after all it's their vehicle at the end of the day. We never get complaints when we call them to explain that there will be a small cost for obtaining security codes for their vehicle. We also charge between £30.00 & £47.50 per vehicle for re-flashing of new software, but always make the phone call in advance so as there are no surprises when the customer comes to collect their vehicle. Sorry to have gone on a bit Peter, but customers have to realise the cost of technology and have to appreciate that you have to make a living as well. All the best now, Gunner.
