Hi all,
I am looking for some help from the collective wisdom that is UKAT. I have never had much involvement with commercial vehicles, consequently I know little about them. I need to buy a Luton/box van with a large capacity. Ideally it should be around 18 to 20 cubic metres but cant be over 3500kg gvw so a 14 or 16 ft body would suit. This is to be used for 3 or 4 trips between Ireland, UK and Spain then parked for a long period so I don’t want to spend too much. Budget is flexible but about £3k to £5k.
I am thinking Merc Sprinter or Transit but am open to ideas. I have seen plenty of LDV’s advertised cheaply. There seems to be a few Ivecos at good prices too. I think the Mercs have the same engines as the cars so they would suit me somewhat. Also I have seen a few Sprinters advertised as having aircon, which would be nice. There is a big range of model numbers in the Transits. Which ones to avoid?
