The Only way to fit a second hand Body Control unit that I know of would be to find the immobiliser chip inside it and swap it out of the old BCM. ( I have not had the pleasure of doing a punto, but have done renaults and peugeots )

OR Swap the BCM, ECU, Keys and locks or ( BCM, ECU,Transponder chips out of the keys into some new keys.)

The Customers always come up with Bright idea's about how to do the job Cheaper, like fitting used parts or When a car breaks down and the problem could be absolutely anywhere from ecu to immobiliser to wiring etc They always come up with that Wonderfull suggestion, "CAN'T YA JUST TAKE THE IMMOBILISER OFF IT COCK, COS I AM NOT BOTHERED ABOUT AN IMMOBILISER".

Even when youve explained that it might not be immobiliser problem, they Still know that it is " COS IT DUNT GO COCK".

What they Really mean is, "I Am a Tight git and i want it bodging rather than fixing properly and i have absolutely no idea how a car works or what you will have to do to remove the immobiliser". And They want you to spend 4 hours doing a job that you could have done properly in 30 minutes so that the job will be Cheaper for them.

But it is handy to be able to swap immobilisers etc so that you can try parts on without wasting hundreds of pounds on new parts in case they don't cure the job.

How Much is a New Punto BCM. ??

    H.T.H. Tony.
