Hi, my MOT garage fitted a new rack (motor factor recon unit) and when they road tested it the traction control light came on. Using Solus (not Pro) I got 2 codes; C1278 Steering wheel angle 1 and 2 signal faulty, and C1975 Sensor signal error. I also captured the trace below, turning lock to lock several times, the horizontal straight lines are where I held it on full lock.

This is the first time I have looked at a steering angle sensor but even I can see that the angle range equates to about 180 turns of the steering wheel !! Bosch KTS was later plugged in (another garage) and read normal angles, about 900 degrees lock to lock. Would I be right in thinking that the fluctuation of the trace indicates a damaged sensor? Also, what type of sensor is this i.e. potentiometer type or other?
I will post this in the Snap On section so Paul Marshall will see it and possibly comment on the angle range covered.
