Hi Andy I did take the time to pull the relay apart and yes it had burnt contacts. This didn't surprise me as I had already decided the relay was the fault. What did surprise me was the various different noises and fault codes. When I started in the trade the average windscreen washer pump was something you pushed with your hands or feet and cars had dynamos, so it's very easy to forget the basics when you get confronted with problems nowadays.
