Thanks for the imput guys,Things have moved on slightly, got into work monday morning & yep it fired up & continued to for the rest of the day moved all wires round where I'd been & still it started, customer was getting itchy for car back so reluctantly I gave it to him. Anyway next day none start, then did later that day ,he took to Chandlers BMW who had it today , they code read it cleared codes(didn't say what they were) & advised he use spare key only charged him £35 !!! (talk about not wanting to buy the job),so he now has car back so will see.

Alan it would be great if you did have diagram for starter circuit the vin is WBAFB32050LH60183 .

The relay was in ecu box under the n/s scuttle, I followed wire(Black) from starter across the o/s bank to that relay, another black wire(sorry didn't get no's,will know for future posts) on the relay is the one that appeared to lose feed, when it was starting on it's own that wire had ignition feed but didn't have it whilst engine was running, maybe to stop starter being used when running ?? The only diagram I could get involving anything about starter just showed a wire going to starter relay from D40 on ecu.

Also could you please explain why there is three wires on starter it had main feed 8mm thread, trigger wire 6mm thread & a third wire with 5mm thread that seemed to just read earth(didn't check when was working)is it something to do with one touch cranking??

sorry for long post & thanks for the education

    Matt
