Hi Tim Probably completely irrelevant with this but here goes anyway. Last year we had a Smart Four Four, with this transmission arrangement (or similar) It was buggering about jumping out of gear & some fault codes (that I can't recall ) We backed away from it thank god, as it did the rounds & ended up at an official Smart repairer who systematically replaced ECU, Gearbox, Wiring harness & eventually fixed it when they replaced the offside front wheel bearing. In the first checks that I did, I noticed that the offside front speed signal was reading slower than the others. It had already had a new drive shaft & sensor as a result of a previous diagnosis. To be fair to Smart though, they did do all these repairs for nowt. Cheers & good luck Dave
