i've also had problems with this on a passat, i changed the oil sensor in the sump but it didn't make a difference, turned out to be a faulty bonnet switch located in the bonnet catch assembly. Switch the ign on, remove plug from bonnet switch and bridge out plug, this should exstinguish the light and then reconnect switch. I think it has something to do with the service light resetting, it like to know when the bonnet has been open/closed after oil has been changed.
